This is the #1 reason why gamers should WAIT for the M4 family Macs. Apple's game porting toolkit 2 supports the AVX2 instruction set, which is NOT supported on M1/M2/M3 family chips. The M4 chip family is the first to use ARMv9's AVX2 support, allowing more AAA games to run.

since people are seeing it in the beta, I should mention a thing in Sequoia that I got to build with some terrific designers: the new wallpaper! it's animated and dynamic—as a screen saver it's different every time. dark mode's gorgeous too. thrilled with how it turned out. #wwdc…

MacOS just got window snapping, but they could never say “windows” on stage so they called them tiles instead 😅

iPhone Mirroring is what i've dreamed of for Continuity. Run apps on your iPhone form your Mac. But... Also Notifications. Now there is no escape from Duolingo. iPhone stays locked while mirroring. #WWDC24 [image]

This is one of those absolutely batshit cool things that only Apple could do. Complete iPhone mirroring control directly on your MacBook! All notifications come directly to your MacBook when enabled and you don't have to reach for your phone to interact 🤯 #WWDC24 [image]

“You can create totally new images” + “you can mirror your iPhone from your MacBook” is going to allow the three As of adoption — accessibility, availability, and affordability — to spur creators to use more genAI capabilities to create “content” faster. Not yet. But big step.
  • @laurengoode Lauren Goode on x
Apple getting deeper into password management. It is already so so aggressive with keychain and suggesting a Strong Password when I all I want to do is autofill from my own PW manager.
  • @loudmouthjulia Julia Alexander on x
iPhone Mirroring is huge for creators posting to short form but editing on computers. And, again, if Apple is to remain the hardware connector as software companies pursue stronger AI capabilities, being able to interweave those capabilities to hardware keeps Apple dominant.

macOS Sequoia has iPhone mirroring, but Macs don't have touchscreens so you're gonna have to navigate around without the natural urge of wanting to touch the screen [image]
