@ousterlidar @HesaiTech Those concerns are gaining traction in Washington. In July the House asked @DeptofDefense to look into its use of Chinese lidar. In Aug. CRS issued a report on the potential dangers of Chinese control of the lidar market. https://crsreports.congress.gov/ ... That's when Hesai lobbied up.

@ousterlidar ... But not everyone is swayed by the national security argument Ouster is making. The U.S. buys *lots* of tech from China. Whether lidar is more security sensitive than any other part of the automotive supply chain is the subject of some debate.

The players: @ousterlidar on the U.S. side and @HesaiTech on the Chinese side. Ouster now owns Velodyne, which had accused Hesai of patent infringement and settled. Ouster has since leveled similar charges that have been sent to arbitration.
