Something about how x86 is going to be used to leverage their AI approach, not sure what this means exactly. “x86 together strong!” They are reorganizing business units again. Intel analysts kept on their toes by having to redo their models every year😁 [image]

Intel announces plans to create a separate entity for its foundry business, a structure that could help to raise outside funding; INTC jumps 7%+

Intel shares jumped almost 10% in extended trading on Monday after the company said it plans to turn its foundry business into an independent unit …

The Intel board meeting approved the plans Pat has already communicated: - continue work with foundry but get more capital efficient - cut $10B in costs - refocus on x86 while driving AI strategy & streamlining product portfolio (less clear to me what this means) [image]

Now that Intel has broken out their fabs into their foundry segment, it's possible to compare margins between Intel and TSMC. It's amazing to realize that it costs $INTC 3x as much to create the same chip as $TSM 😳 (And the stock has been punished accordingly)

As Intel reports disappointing earnings and guidance, and becomes S&P 500's worst performing stock in 2024, a look at the long history of company's missteps

Kif Leswing / CNBC :

Pat Gelsinger mentioning on the $INTC Intel earnings call that Intel was designated as the “national semiconductor champion”, and honestly that must have slipped by me b/c I can't reconcile that with USA norms and gigantic economy. But holy crap, it's real https://www.npr.org/... [image]

IMO biggest risk is not to $TSM but their clients. TSMC has such big marketshare that any disruption will increase demand for it's product, like Intel Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities in 2018 actually increased sales due to the performance hit of fixes https://twitter.com/...

Had to try out Gemini, it's true. Don't know if they've made changes but for me it mostly wouldn't even try to make images that might have white people in them. Does the same with text, look at what it says about white people, lol. [image]

Let me list the ways that this is a horrible idea by Intel $INTC, at least as described so far. It could be salvaged if employees get a huge amount of stock options and the dividend is getting cut along with it. 🧵 https://twitter.com/...
