I like how Meta, in their promotional materials, is focusing on artistic, fun, and creative use of imagine gen AI instead of trying to showcase crating realistic pictures depicting people.  This is a much broader and less risky use case that non-tech people will instantly relate to.

My bet; 1) MR: On par with Quest 3, maybe no depth sensor and AI takes care of depth calculations using CV 2) Controllers: no controllers in package, optional $60 purchase.  3) Processor: XR2 Gen2 4) Displays: Fresnel lenses like Quest 2 No Controllers and fresnel lenses will likely be the sacrifices that'll make $199 price feasible.

That's a fair assessment.  I feel that they would want to keep as much content compatible as possible between Quest 3 and Quest 3 lite.  So I don't think we'll see XR2 Gen 1.  I'm not sure where else they can cut significant cost apart from processor and displays. …
