I experienced a very similar transition in December. However, for higher-complexity tasks (ML-related), we are still not there yet. Two days ago I had GPT-5.2-PRO-ET and DeepThink argue for hours, converge, be happy, yet they missed a very obvious math issue. Still a huge unlock

OpenAI launches o3, its most advanced reasoning model, and o4-mini, a lower cost alternative that still delivers “impressive results”, for ChatGPT paid users

ChatGPT Plus users can begin using both new models starting today.  —  A mere two days after announcing GPT-4.1, OpenAI is releasing not one but two new models.

Last time I posted about the specific model was the Phi family release - it was a breakthrough. Today - another one, please take note. @SebastienBubeck himself in our private correspondence said: “The Liquid models are strong. Wow.” - sorry, Seb, oversharing, I know

While we are not there yet, this is a big step in LLMs replacing compilers. It will get us near-perfectly optimized code, reversing decades of efficiency sliding. On the flip side, with the perfect Disasm available to everyone, I lose my competitive advantage :-(

Meta releases LLM Compiler, a family of models built on Code Llama specifically designed for code optimization tasks, available in 7B- and 13B-parameter sizes

Meta LLM Compiler is a state-of-the-art LLM that builds upon Code Llama … Chris Cummins / Meta : Meta Large Language Model Compiler: Foundation Models of Compiler Optimization Rafl...

One thing it will enable is the high-level optimizations that humans can't do, because we need to keep the code readable. With LLMs, it will do an equivalent of LTCG across the whole codebase right at (hopefully) C++ level, reducing all kinds of overhead.

After quite some work, GPT4-Turbo replaced GPT-4 in the Copilot free tier. Pro users can still choose the older model, if prefer (there is a toggle).

Tom Warren / The Verge :

Now almost everyone - 90% - should be seeing the Bing Chat Mode selector (the tri-toggle). I definitely prefer Creative, but Precise is also interesting - it's much more factual. See which one you like. The 10% who are still in the control group should start seeing it today.
