principles matter. show up when it matters. if you believe in liberty and privacy then say something. and if you *want* to say something but don't because of “business” reasons then you should really consider if your priorities are in check (looking at you, silicon valley).

i got to use the codex app this past week and it's really good! easily 2x'd my codex usage. i think we underrate how much more accessible these tools get when you bring them into great interfaces. highly recommend.

Insane that Cursor saw the rise of Claude Code and went: “Yeah let's just hire both Claude Code's lead dev & project manager away from one of the world's biggest AI labs.” Absolute monster hires. Reminder that you can just do things. [image]

The Information

Sources: Anthropic's revenue hit a pace of $4B/year, up almost 4x from the beginning of 2025; source: Cursor maker Anysphere hired two of Claude Code's leaders

What's notable is that Cursor just poached the lead engineer and PM for Claude Code.  I guess this is now an industry trend. Threads: Dare Obasanjo / @carnage4life : Anthropic is a...

@tobi Totally agree. These days you get wayyy less perf bonus out of dumb tricks like “I'll pay you $100 if you get this right”, which is how it should be. All of the alpha is in assembling context well to reduce the fog of war for the model. It's converging to human-ish info needs

The term “context engineering” is gaining traction over “prompt engineering” as it better describes the skill of providing LLMs with the necessary information

I've spoken favorably of prompt engineering in the past - I hoped that term could capture the inherent complexity of constructing reliable prompts.

OpenAI's o3-pro is much smarter than o3 and amazing at using tools, but the model requires a lot of context to run well and without enough it tends to overthink

OpenAI dropped o3 pricing 80% today and launched o3-pro.  Ben Hylak of Raindrop.ai returns with the world's first early review.

Some early Manus users say the agentic AI is no panacea, with long waits, errors, unsatisfying answers, and endless loops often plaguing the experience

Manus, an “agentic” AI platform that launched in preview last week, is generating more hype than a Taylor Swift concert.

@OpenAI o3-mini is exceptionally great, but I do worry that summarized chain-of-thought is actually worse than nothing at all. True CoT exposure acts as a prompt debugger. It helps us steer the model. Summarized CoT obfuscates this and potentially adds errors - makes it hard to debug.
