I think Phil Spencer has a complicated legacy. Without a doubt he saved Xbox in 2013. It doesn't exist without his leadership... but also just a series of disastrous decisions in recent years. I think his biggest regret will be that Activision Blizzard merger. [image]

Every day with this company... Xbox today RAISED the barrier of making games on their platform. At a time in which many aren't even bothering releases on the Xbox platform, the very smart leadership decided to make it even harder... Every move is dumber than the last. My god.

Sources: Microsoft is significantly increasing the price of its Xbox Development Kit from $1,500 to $2,000, after hiking Series X prices by $150 in September

Microsoft is raising the price of Xbox dev kits, just a month after tariffs hit Xbox console pricing.

Seeing all these price increases for 5 year old consoles, truly makes me wonder just how unaffordable the PlayStation 6 and next Xbox will be. Xbox Series X is now up to $650 PS5 recently went up to $550 So is next gen starting at $700?

This mindset is what AAA gaming is now all about (and Hollywood). The old “niche” audiences that made these studios & games what they are don't matter anymore to these corpos. Zero respect. It's all about the modern “broader” audience that largely is non-existent.

“[Halo] Developer says Microsoft is trying their damndest to replace as many jobs as they can with AI agents.” How does one trust this company moving forward?! This all sounds horrible. And it sounds like every studio is being run into the ground. Great Xbox leadership!

Rest in Peace to the Concord devs. No Concord 2.0 coming as Sony officially closed the studio. Also officially, $400 million down the toilet and an acquisition of Firewalk barely made it a year. Ouch.

One thing has become clear today and that is Ubisoft is truly freaking out & concerned that Assassin's Creed Shadows won't be a hit. Moving out of the attractive holiday season for a February release really does say a lot. Outlaws underperforming must've really scared them.

Ubisoft lowers its FY 2024-25 bookings forecast to €1.95B, vs. €2.42B est., and delays Assassin's Creed Shadows to February 14, 2025; UBI drops 15%+

- Company said its recent Star Wars release had underperformed

Ubisoft says AC Shadows is releasing on Steam. That “mostly negative” rating feels like an inevitability with how divisive the game is. They also said they're cancelling/refunding all pre-orders due to the delay (they must be low) and all future ones get first expansion free.
