“China is Winning by Waiting” In my NEW piece for @ForeignAffairs, I argue that China shares some of Trump's transactional approach to geopolitics, using carrots and sticks to get what it wants. The difference is that China is more predictable. https://www.foreignaffairs.com/ ...

Why would top Chinese AI leaders admit so publicly that they're falling behind the US due to computer constraints? One answer: they're lobbying Beijing fiercely to get export controls lifted and allow purchases of more powerful Nvidia chips like the H200. https://www.bloomberg.com/...

A Chinese hospital says Alibaba's PANDA AI tool has analyzed 180,000 CT scans and detected ~24 pancreatic cancer cases since its deployment in November 2024

A tool for spotting pancreatic cancer in routine CT scans has had promising results, one example of how China is racing to apply A.I. to medicine's tough problems.

This is one of the most compelling real-world use cases of AI I've seen yet: “Several of their CT scans had raised no alarms until they were flagged by the A.I. tool. ‘I think you can 100 percent say A.I. saved their lives,’ he said."https://www.nytimes.com/ ...

The Meta-Manus deal is the latest example of what I call “the Great Reversal” where technology no longer just flows from the West to China but now also from China to the West. Will do a High Capacity piece on this and what it means later.

This is what I've been saying. Trump may have allowed H200 sales to China, and Chinese firms may want them. But that doesn't mean Beijing will let it happen. Beijing wants to break China's dependence on US chips for good and shift to domestic ones. H200 sales may be limited.
