Today's AirTag changes (and future updates coming later this year) are aimed at Apple product users, and Apple has nothing to say about Android users at this time. But Apple is planning continued improvements and listening to user feedback, and Android falls under that.

17 hours to go...looking forward to blood oxygen monitoring in the Apple Watch. The finger versions don't work with nail polish so I wonder if Apple's version will have a hard time with tattoos. Useful for COVID, but also pulmonary emergencies + things like detecting sleep apnea.
