And finally, I got an exclusive tour of Google's Reliability Labs, which is where all the Pixel hardware is stress tested.  Want to see a frozen Pixel Watch 4?  Or the amusingly named “Shock Tower?”  Details here!  —  www.wired.com/story/google...

Google teases Project Astra, a camera-based AI app to process visual data in real time, and showed a person wearing a pair of smart glasses using the feature

It'll even remember things it saw that are no longer in the frame.  —  Deputy Editor, Reviews

I personally do not like using the projector, but it's a little crazy that this projector is completely useless when you step outside during daylight hours. Zero visibility. It's fun to show off to people though (when it works). [image]

Humane AI Pin review: well-made and easier to access than a phone, but doesn't work half the time, really slow even when it does work, and lacks basic features

For $699 and $24 a month, this wearable computer promises to free you from your smartphone.  There's only one problem: it just doesn't work.

“I have to review the device in my hands right now, not what the product may or may not be in the future.” This thing just flat-out has too few features at launch. So many things are being promised via software updates, and they really needed to be ready at launch. [image]

It's cool having an AI assistant on your persons that you can ask anything anytime, but you really have to be able to trust what it's saying. Too many times, it made up information. Even with Vision (in beta), it just made up stuff that was in front of me. [image]

This was a bit of a wild week but Citizen is now suspending sales of its CZ Smart (Gen 2) Wear OS smartwatch after discovering technical issues https://www.wired.com/... via @WIRED

Citizen suspends sales of its $350 CZ Smart smartwatch, launched on May 1; review units had extensive issues, including freezing and inaccurate tracking data

The second-generation CZ Smart launched a few months ago.  Both the company and reviewers have found serious technical issues.

It's weird because this product has been on sale since May. Customers have been leaving negative reviews on Citizen's own web store as of two to three months ago [image]

Oh hello. I have two new reviews for you. First up: Pixel Watch. I like it! Is it worth $349? Probably not. It's missing a lot of health and fitness features that really should be here from day one. But it's friggin' round and beautiful. https://www.wired.com/... via @WIRED

After incremental smartphone updates, Apple's Watch Ultra, Google's Pixel Watch, and Samsung's Watch 5 Pro reinvigorate a wearables sector that was stagnating

Phones have become boring.  Each year brings an incremental, iterative update, but the general idea of what a phone is hasn't changed in ages.

iPhone 14 Plus review: multiday battery, bright screen, and lightweight, but hard to use one-handed, no ProMotion, and adopting eSIM will be painful for some

Here's my iPhone 14 Pro review! TL;DR: It's a great iPhone but the camera upgrades aren't as big as they seem. If you thought the Photonic Engine and larger sensors were going to make dramatic changes, well, nope. https://www.wired.com/... via @WIRED
