This is laughable.  —  OpenAI is reportedly targeting CPMs in the realm of $60 for advertising on ChatGPT.  —  That pricing is well above Meta's sub-$20 CPM and on par with live NFL broadcasts.  —  In what world do they think advertisers will pay that much?  —  www.theinformation.com/articles/ ope...

It's amazing how consistently Meta copies its competitors rather than developing new ideas for its products on its own.

I don't know if I've fully bought into the idea that smart glasses will replace phones for most people, but these prototypes are about as close as you can get to what the ideal version of the device should look like.  They're pretty stylish and the tech looks impressive.  And they're infinitely more useable than the Vision Pro and Quest headsets for a larger set of situations.  If Apple isn't developing a version of this (eg Apple Vision, hold the Pro) then they're missing a trick.

Hands-on with Meta's Orion: needs a wireless processor puck, weighs only 100g, is packed with sensors, and has good eye tracking and a wide FoV for AR glasses

Add it to the pile of social apps with no real business model and a USP that could be easily copied by the big players.  It'll look nice on the shelf next to Clubhouse.  Seriously, how was this app ever meant to make money?  Its whole purpose in the beginning was to get users to spend *less* time on the app/social media in general. …

Crazy how a handful of sports journalists could have so much power over the success of a given social platform.  Once Reddit's sports subs start linking to Woj/Shams/Passan/Schefter/et al on Threads, X will lose a huge number of daily/monthly actives.

Gen Z loves Snap but it's not clear that advertisers do, mostly because those audiences can be better reached in more effective ad environments on the likes of TikTok and Instagram.  It doesn't help that the company has invested heavily in AR products that are yet to be proven as anything more than a fun gimmick.
