Another comment, but the reason I hope Nintendo loses this hard is because again, these mechanics have been used in other monster-taming games outside of Pokemon. They are extremely generalized and this would affect the entire genre altogether.

Form various interviews, it seems to me that Miyamoto really loves creating games. You can tell he really enjoys what he does. I can't blame the guy for wanting to do what he loves until he dies.
