An MIT report finds that 95% of GenAI pilots at companies have little to no financial impact, due to the “learning gap” for both the tools and the companies

Good morning.  Companies are betting on AI—yet nearly all enterprise pilots are stuck at the starting line.

Based upon reports from Verizon & AT&T in recent days (see my prior tweets), it appears Apple's Q2 iPhone smartphone upgrades in the U.S. were poor.  Initial reports during Q2 showed Apple's shipments in China in April & May (largest smartphone mkt. in the world) rebounded (Y/Y gains) due to heavy discounting, but today Canalys announced Apple's smartphone shipments for all of Q2 fell 6.7% (June must have been a disaster).  Overall Q2 smartphone shipments in China grew by 10% Y/Y. Apple's primary competitor in China (Huawei) saw its shipments jump 41% Y/Y.  “As a result of this decline, Apple's ranking in the Chinese smartphone market fell from third to sixth place.”  Reminder: AAPL's P/E ratio - 34x.

@InvestWthIcebox It will become increasingly difficult to keep extracting more & more money from Apple's customer base for “services” if their iPhone unit sales are flat or keep falling- as happened in recent quarters. Just wait till the consumer recession in the U.S. hits.

There are no signs of an improvement in business conditions, in fact, they deteriorated further in Q4 & Q1 guide indicates more to go. The sequential decline was across all global regions (except “rest of Asia"). TXN “Hasn't seen a recovery in China that most of us expected.”
