Which I'm sure they know, and they don't care, because this is tech they're going to use to make VR avs look more realistic to other people, because it makes their apps look better and easier to sell. That's, fine, but that isn't why people use Fullbody in VRChat or similar.

In a new paper, Meta researchers demonstrated a system that can reconstruct a user's plausible pose from only the Quest 2's sensors using reinforcement learning

David Heaney / UploadVR :

Um This isn't full body, this looks about as good as various IK solutions, which are “fine” but don't remotely feel like Fullbody tracking. If your elbow or pelvis or knee is wrong, it doesn't matter if it's a little wrong or a lot wrong, “imprecise” all feels about the same. https://twitter.com/...

David Heaney / UploadVR :

The key here is that this is meta researches. Their priorities aren't yours. They want to make Meta avs with legs that pass visual fidelity bars. They don't give a good diddly how it feels to inhabit them, their goal is to appease investors and give marketers pretty footage.

Ok but this is actually cool. Essentially a fancy Trello task you can drop into chat, say “hey everyone update this with your work” then you can just drop the same thing into your email? And the recipient gets it live and can pop out details? That's NEAT! https://www.theverge.com/...

I still don't really know what Amazon Luna means for the gaming sphere, and I'm highly skeptical core gamers will choose it, but the value proposition is worlds above what Stadia is. At least this makes sense for (some segment of folks, with older desktops, probably kids, etc).

Seeing a few “the BIG games aren't on Steam let alone Steam OS” takes, or “well it needs windows to play the REAL games” and No not really. SteamOS support is already pretty common, and it isn't like this portable rig is made for Big AAA Games anyways. Great for lil indies tho! https://twitter.com/...

While “hey let's see where it goes!” is def the take, it's worth noting who they hired. That probably gives you hints of what to expect here. I'd guess very much not Game Pass or (etc), more like, “let do Apple Arcade on Android!” Which has failed a ton of times. So, hrm. Maybe? https://twitter.com/...

If you squint at this, the games with the cheapest UA costs appear to be the non-genre indies. The odd ones out. It suggests they're a valuable property that, on average, isn't paid what they're worth. Very much counter to typical narratives surrounding indies on new platforms. https://twitter.com/...

I've seen questions on this, and yeah, Epic's terms are pretty decent IF you're a big studio. Bigger deals have way worse terms, pretty often. If 50/50 seems bad to you, you're probs operating at budgets an order of magnitude below the studios this is targeting (which is fine!). https://twitter.com/...
