Makes sense given the cost of development and the amount they spent on acquisitions. I think it's no longer about the box for Microsoft.

This is an unpleasant ad, I think - I get what they're going for but it ultimately feels as if they're destroying the history of creativity. A fitting presentation following yesterday's Xbox news, however. “Crush your dreams”

I was never a fan of acquisitions but, to keep the peace, I've had positive things to say about MS acquiring Bethesda. I retract those things. Activision, I have no real affinity for, but these were two of my favorite Bethesda studios. Really bummed out now.

@GenePark I'm curious to understand what you find interesting about the game itself. Most of the uniqueness seems to stem from jamming Pokemon-like monsters into an Ark clone - it's a strange contrast with ‘Hire this man, Nintendo’ energy.

One other benefit of the OLED - if you're playing a 16:9 game on this 16:10 screen, the black area could appear completely dark now.

A review of Valve's $549 Steam Deck OLED: a great screen, a longer battery life, and better ergonomics, but refresh rate issues and the platform is not stable

A new screen, a pile of improvements, and better pricing make this everything the original should have been.

I really hate how this boneheaded decision by Unity is impacting so many smaller developers. Even if they walk it back, though, can they regain trust? Would you trust them with your future?

Unity cancels a town hall and closes two offices after receiving what the company says was a credible death threat, following its controversial install fee news

Management announced a controversial pricing decision two days ago  —  Unity Technologies Inc. canceled a planned town hall …

This is another aspect of Unity's folly - their proposed system (which may not actually exist yet) would theoretically require an internet connection rendering offline versions of games no longer possible. Unacceptable. That hurts consumers as well as devs.

The craziest thing about PS5 is the speed of the SSD. 5.5 GB/s is just part of the story - there is a lot of custom silicon in there to ensure that the system isn't bottlenecked in other areas. It's *REALLY* fast on paper - a lot faster than Xbox Series X even.

Beyond that, I was surprised that it allows for off the shelf NVMe drives...but only if they are certified. There are no drives available today that are fast enough for PS5 so do not buy one in preparation.
