with so many (better — so much better) options for messaging, I don't understand why folks would jump through so many hoops for iMessage (I also suspect this is largely a US-only issue?  The rest of the world is Whatsapp/Line/Telegram/WeChat?)  Or maybe I'm just inured to using six different messaging apps.
