Intel cheating in SPEC is nothing new, it's literally in computing textbooks that explain what a benchmark is.  Sinthetic benchmarking should just be avoided.  BTW amd and nv have also done this in other ways/benchmarks, and removed sampling from those who called it out.

Benchmarks, while inherently contentious and not always representative of real-world performance, are an important tool in any kind of quantitative evaluation.
