It's partnered with Starlink rival AST SpaceMobile on a direct-to-smartphone satellite service it plans to launch in Europe later this year.

The VLEO operations are important for Space-X because of HARQ. An ACK/NACK signal in 4G LTE TDD is required within 8 milliseconds. And a VLEO system has Round trip time RTT delays of 10-15 ms which means they operate near what 4G can do. 4/n
