Germany's prepared to subsidize Intel's new Germany site to the tune of €10 bn. You have to wonder whether: a) the UK government would ever be willing to do the same; b) if they did, whether there would be uproar about it. https://www.bloomberg.com/...

This is a wild tale of allegedly bugged boardrooms, drones, covert surveillance and leaks. I went to Copenhagen with @jordanr1000 for the story of Huawei's efforts to win the contract to build Denmark's main 5G network. https://www.bloomberg.com/... [video]

What's more, talent is a helluva lot cheaper here. Average software engineer base salary is $135,464 in the Bay Area, per @Glassdoor. In London, it's just £53,392. Also no bad thing for @nickclegg to be closer to Brussels, where regulators have got it in for @Meta.

Did you know that Facebook has just $69 annual revenue per user in Europe, compared with $214 in the U.S. and Canada? In that context, it makes sense for a bunch of execs to move to London — greater proximity to a market where it's underpenetrated. https://www.bloomberg.com/...

Instagram CEO @mosseri is planning to move to London for a stint, the @FT reports. He'll build out the division's presence here, where parent @Meta is moving into a new HQ. London is, of course, a major engineering hub for rival TikTok. https://www.ft.com/...

I agree with the thesis that @Meta will track our every last action in the metaverse in order to sell ads. But on the whole, Silicon Valley firms don't patent their inventions until they're actually released, so they can hide what they're up to. https://www.ft.com/...
