And yes, round 2 is coming. We're starting by listening to the teams who showed up in Round 1. What worked, what didn't, what we can improve. Big thanks to @Kaggle for teaming up on this crazy idea. https://www.kprize.ai/

The Laude Institute, a nonprofit that runs the K Prize multi-round AI coding challenge, says a Brazilian prompt engineer won with just 7.5% of the right answers

A new AI coding challenge has revealed its first winner — and set a new bar for AI-powered software engineers.

And obviously our work here is not done - i still need to give away a million bucks!

K Prize was built to reward capability. No contamination, no shortcuts. Just real hard problems and limited compute. Benchmarks have to be hard if they're going to matter. https://andykonwinski.com/...

Since submissions lost points for failing an issue's unit tests (vs explicitly skipping the issue), Eduardo's winning submission did well by skipping 91% of the issues. The submission that solved the most issues succeeded on 13 (and skipped 9) https://www.kaggle.com/...

When @matei_zaharia and I published about Hadoop with Ion Stoica in our first year at Berkeley, we shipped the code too. That line of research led Matei to build @ApacheSpark. Spark became @databricks. The lesson stuck with me. Breakthroughs only matter when you ship them.
