How is extorting Meta to pay for free advertising waging war on journalism?  A link tax has got to be one of the dumbest ideas out there - somewhere up there with an unrealized gains tax - and a bill that leads to uncapped and unlimited liability to Meta whenever anyone links to a news site will obviously lead to Meta banning news. …

Right but that's the consumers decision to choose Facebook over news sites.  News sites can block Facebook from linking to they sites if they want - but they prefer getting the free advertising.  If we all decide that it's easier to listen to a Spotify news podcast instead of reading news websites …
