Matt Mullenweg responds to DHH's claim that “Automattic is doing open source dirty”, pointing out Rails' own trademark policy and taking some jabs at 37signals

I've always been very aware that Substack is heavily VC-backed, and that creates pressure to “build a moat” and become a platform. Their new app is clearly a step in that direction. https://onemanandhisblog.com/ ...

Substack's app lets users pause email delivery to read only in the app, building a moat for Substack that potentially protects it from competitors

Substack has launched a reader app for iOS, turning itself from a newsletter company into a platform one.  Publishers — beware.

MacOS Monterey is a weirdly bland update — having been using it for a couple of hours, you could have easily persuaded me that the install failed and that I was still in Big Sur.

macOS 12 Monterey review: automation on Mac is revitalized with Shortcuts, Low Power Mode is nice, and it's packed with tons of small tweaks like AirPlay to Mac

An iterative update to Big Sur that has a little something for everyone.  —  Big Sur was a landmark release of macOS, in ways both technical and symbolic.

First impressions of Big Sur: amazingly fast on my ancient 2013 MacBook Pro. The visual refresh takes a little getting used to, but it's close enough to the current iPad look that it feels fairly familiar. A couple of hours in, and I haven't hit any problems yet.
